Kelly graduated from Midway back when it was still a college, so ages ago with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry. She joined the Bachstetter Lab in September 2016, and she is currently a Senior Scientist in the lab.

In the (far distant) future, she plans to retire, but for now she is thoroughly enjoying working with the Bachstetter lab with a great bunch of people.

Kelly is from Lexington, KY and she enjoys reading, talking about books with her friends, traveling, and spending time with family on her farm with her husband, two children, two horses, a bunch of chickens, cats, rabbits, and one adorable dog.

Leke Bytyqi

Leke graduated from Berea College in May 2025 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. He is currently a Lab Technician in the Bachstetter Lab. He plans to attend graduate school in the future.

Throughout his undergraduate years, he interned at Vanderbilt University Medical Center under Dr. Borden Lacy and researched infectious diseases. He also served as the Head Teaching Assistant at Berea College Chemistry Department.

Leke is from Prishtina, Kosova. Outside of academics, he enjoys collecting Hot Wheels, drinking Red Bull, playing the piano, and competing in Clash Royale games.

Esther Drinkard
